Characters who teach SUS teams to detect and respond to emergencies.
For Brazil’s Ministry of Health and the VigiAR-SUS Network, supported by the Pan American Health Organization, we created characters and educational videos that supported SUS health workers nationwide, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The challenge
The COVID-19 pandemic showed that health surveillance depends on well-prepared frontline workers. Thousands of SUS workers across the country needed guidance on control, detection and response, fast and without noise.
The content was technical: acronyms, axes, training levels and protocols. The task was to turn all of it into videos any professional understands the first time and wants to watch to the end.
The videos
Three videos, one universe
VigiBot opens the CIEVS Basic Course on Surveillance, Alert and Response. Ana, Jandira, João and Dandara explain the VigiAR-SUS Network strategy and EpiSUS Fundamental. All characters were created by BDDB.ag, with a professional illustrator from our team, and the VigiBot video was produced by RISE Films.

What we did
- 01
Characters
We created VigiBot and a cast of SUS professionals with real diversity: the field agent, the hospital specialist and the experienced mentor.
- 02
Storyboard
Each video was drawn frame by frame to turn technical content into a simple story, approved before animation.
- 03
Illustration
A professional illustrator on the BDDB team drew characters, settings and infographics in a colourful, accessible style.
- 04
Motion and delivery
The videos were animated, subtitled and delivered ready for the Ministry of Health’s courses and channels.
A positioning view
In the pandemic, communication stopped being support and became part of the response. Training thousands of health workers spread across the country takes content that is simple, standardised and easy to distribute.
People learn from people. When professionals see themselves in a character, the message stops being institutional and becomes advice from a peer.
Original characters are also an asset: VigiBot and Ana can return in new courses and campaigns, building recognition with every appearance.
